VALINA's social and governance systems form a four-layer architecture that balances community, collaboration, merit, and democratic participation. Each layer feeds the next ΓÇö social vouching enables circle membership, contributions earn tier promotion, tier determines governance power.
LAYER 1: SOCIAL GRAPH
Kindred ΓÇö Follow, Mutual, and Gifting connections. 1.5× vouch multiplier feeds into Circle membership.
LAYER 2: COLLABORATION
Circles (open groups with Grove economy) and Inner Circles (3-12 members with shared project funding pools).
LAYER 3: STEWARDSHIP
5-tier meritocratic hierarchy ΓÇö Seeker → Guide → Guardian → Sage → Elder. Earned through contribution, not purchased.
LAYER 4: GOVERNANCE
Quadratic Voting (cost = votes²) paired with Vote Delegation (liquid democracy with max chain depth of 3).

FOLLOWING
One-way connection ΓÇö you follow a creator. Optional personal notes. Automatic mutual detection when both sides follow each other.
MUTUAL
Two-way ΓÇö both follow each other. Creates a deeper bond. Followers, following, and mutual counts tracked automatically.
GIFTING
Direct GRAT gifting between Kindred connections. Bidirectional total tracking, gift history with messages, last_interaction updated on every gift.
1.5× VOUCH WEIGHT
Kindred connections carry 1.5× multiplier when vouching for someone to join a Vouched-policy Circle. Social trust bridges into community membership.
CIRCLES
1,748 lines ΓÇö themed groups with rotating leadership and Grove economy
CRAFT
Skill-based collaboration ΓÇö art, code, music. Open or vouched-membership. Each contribution earns +1 VRS.
MISSION
Goal-oriented initiatives with a shared mission statement. Purpose-driven groups working toward a specific outcome.
SPARK
Time-limited groups that dissolve after target completion. Focused bursts of collective energy.
MENTOR
Knowledge transfer and mentorship. Structured learning within the community, peer to peer.
GROVE ECONOMY
Shared GRAT pool (10,000 soft cap). Contributions are atomic SQL
ΓÇö LEAST(balance + amount, cap) prevents race
conditions. Overflow above cap flows to the Giving Grove.
Support distributions require facilitator approval.
FACILITATOR ROTATION
Every 30 days. Equity-first selection: fewest facilitator terms first, then earliest join date. Outgoing facilitator earns +2 VRS bonus. Auto-triggered when a facilitator leaves. No permanent positions.
JOIN POLICIES
Three modes: Open (anyone joins immediately), Vouched (requires existing member vouch ΓÇö Kindred connections get 1.5× weight), Application (facilitator approval). Minimum: 3 members to create/sustain.
INNER CIRCLES
1,656 lines ΓÇö small focused teams (3-12) with shared project funding
ACTIVE
Functioning with active members, shared pool receiving contributions, projects underway. +2 VRS per contribution.
FORMING
Initial member recruitment (3-12 range). Founders marked separately. Parents can link to larger Circles.
DORMANT
No activity for 30+ days. Pool and projects preserved, awaiting reactivation by any member.
ARCHIVED
Permanently closed. Records preserved for history. Members can form new circles from the archive.
SHARED PROJECT SYSTEM
Embedded project management: Proposed → InProgress → Completed (or OnHold / Cancelled). Each project tracks completion percentage (0-100). GRAT allocated from pool to specific projects. Participating earns +3 VRS.
SHARED POOL
Members contribute GRAT to a shared pool. Pool allocates to projects. Bidirectional GRAT flow tracked per member (total_contributed, total_received). Can be private (is_private) ΓÇö invisible to non-members.
STEWARDSHIP

50 RS, 30 days, 10 contributions, 3 endorsements. Unlocks mentoring and proposal creation. First gate to governance.
GUARDIAN ΓÇö 2.0×
150 RS, 90 days, 50 contributions, 10 endorsements. Moderation and community protection responsibilities.
SAGE ΓÇö 3.0×
300 RS, 180 days, 100 contributions, 25 endorsements. Arbitration and strategic guidance for the community.
ELDER ΓÇö 5.0×
500 RS, 365 days, 200 contributions, 50 endorsements. Terminal tier ΓÇö platform stewardship and constitutional authority.
ELECTION SYSTEM
Two-phase process: Nominating (anyone nominates candidates, duplicates rejected) → Voting (steward tier determines vote weight 1.0×-5.0×, highest weighted total wins) → Completed or Cancelled.
GOVERNANCE PROPOSALS
Guide+ minimum to propose. Default quorum: 100.0 weighted votes. Voting period: 1-90 days (default 7). Duplicate vote prevention. Quorum: (votes_for + votes_against) ≥ quorum_required. Title: 300 chars, description: 10,000 chars.
QUADRATIC VOTING
1,010 lines ΓÇö mathematically-proven fair governance: cost = votes²
10× the budget gives you only ~3.16× the votes. Quadratic cost prevents plutocratic capture while letting passionate voices be heard. Voice credits come from depth score (d1.5) + legacy marks (×10 each) + base 100.
PARAMETER TUNING
Minor parameter adjustments. Lowest quorum ΓÇö quick decisions on small changes.
FEATURE ACTIVATION
Enabling new features. Moderate quorum ensures community awareness before new capabilities go live.
TREASURY ALLOCATION
Spending decisions. Higher quorum because community funds are at stake ΓÇö broader consensus required.
GOVERNANCE CHANGE
Governance rule changes. Changing the rules themselves demands significant community participation.
CONSTITUTIONAL
Fundamental platform changes. The highest bar ΓÇö one-third of total ecosystem credits must be spent to legitimize.
PROPOSAL CONTEXTS
MainGovernance (platform-wide), GuildInternal (guild-scoped), TreasuryManagement (economic matters), EmergencyAction (urgent response). Default voting period: 7 days. Users can change their vote. Vote simulation available as pure function (no DB writes).
VOTE DELEGATION
585 lines ΓÇö liquid democracy where you delegate power but keep control
GENERAL
Applies to all proposals. Your delegate votes on everything on your behalf. Revocable at any time.
CATEGORY
Scoped to a specific proposal category. Delegate for treasury but vote personally on governance changes.
GUILD
Scoped to a specific guild. Trust an expert within their domain. Independent of your other delegations.
EMERGENCY
Only applies during emergency actions. Separate from normal governance ΓÇö rapid response delegation.
DELEGATION CHAINS
Max chain depth: 3 levels. Max delegators per delegate: 100. Delegated power = √(depth_score) × (1.0 + resonance_score × 0.5). High-resonance delegates get +15% bonus.
DIRECT VOTE INCENTIVE
Direct voters get +10% voting power bonus. Delegation is convenient, but voting yourself is slightly more powerful ΓÇö healthy tension that incentivizes active participation.
FLUID & REVOCABLE
Revoke at any time. Optional expiration dates. Maintenance endpoint auto-expires stale delegations. Delegation tree visualization available via API.

469 lines. Funding proposals with milestones, spending records, revenue streams. Full treasury management on desktop.
DELEGATION GRAPH
440 lines. Per-topic liquid delegation, chain visualization, influence summaries. Visual delegation graph rendering ΓÇö unique to the desktop agent.

ANTI-PLUTOCRATIC BY DESIGN
Quadratic voting: 10× wealth ≈ 3.16× influence. Stewardship tiers earned, not purchased. Direct voting bonuses (+10%) incentivize active participation.
ROTATING & DISTRIBUTED AUTHORITY
Circle facilitators rotate every 30 days (equity-first). No permanent positions ΓÇö even Elders earn their place continuously.
FLUID & REVOCABLE
Vote delegation revocable at any time. Circle membership soft-deleted (reversible). Kindred connections independently controlled.
ATOMIC & RACE-SAFE
Grove contributions: atomic SQL. Support distributions: balance guard. QV votes: upsert. Every financial operation is mathematically protected against race conditions.
LAYERED PARTICIPATION
Social (Kindred) → Community (Circles) → Governance (Stewardship/QV). Each layer feeds the next. Users naturally progress through engagement, not registration forms.
